Description

  • Exterior lighting design should be designed to enhance street life and integrate NYCHA grounds with the surrounding community. Designers should minimize the use of wall pack fixtures on residential buildings. Light fixtures should be energy efficient and have reduced maintenance costs in accordance with NYCHA exterior lighting standards table. 
  • Projects in this scope may include replace and upgrade development’s exterior lighting system with brighter, state-of-the-art, energy-efficient light-emitting diode (LED) lights located at entrance, walkways, sitting areas, parking areas and around the perimeter of the development for safe passage of residents and NYCHA staff and to deter theft and vandalism. The new light fixtures, which included pedestrian post lights, cobra heads, floodlights, canopy lights, and wall packs, are dark-sky friendly, which eliminates glare and reduces sky glow, light pollution, development impact on nocturnal environment, and feature an astronomic time clock control. As well as setting up a new site lighting panel system. Trenching will be necessary to install new underground conduit for the new light poles, along with their associated concrete foundations. 
  • EGC requirements: 
  • A minimum 40 lumens per watt. 
  • Recessed light fixtures must be Insulation Contact Air-Tight (ICAT) models with ENERGY STAR LED.  
  • Exterior lights fixtures must be ENERGY STAR LED, Dark-sky-friendly, and must include motion sensor, integrated photovoltaic cell, photosensor, and astronomic time clock control.  
  • Common-area lights must be LED and integrated with occupancy sensor or bi-level control.
